A Job for the Fairy Tale Fixers: Monday's Challenges.

Good morning Hedgehogs, it's a new week!

I hope you had a good weekend. I have been watching Disney films: my favourite so far has been The Jungle Book but I've also enjoyed Moana, Aladdin and Tangled.

I thought we'd try something different this week. Today's blog post is a story with all three (must-do) challenges on it. You and your grown ups will have a lot of time to go through the story and do the challenges. If they could all be done by next Monday, I would be a very happy teacher because then I will give you the next part of the story.

On Wednesday and Friday I will be posting lots of other learning ideas for you, as usual - please email me any that you do (or any from the previous week's collection).

This week's tasks can be found in the story below... there is a detailed explanation at the start of the story. Siblings can get involved with the story too!

To help you along I have set you all up with your own marble jars at my house! Every time you complete one of the must-do challenges, I will put a marble in your jar. Then when we return to school, there will be prizes and/or treats (suggestions welcome!)

Keep sending emails with your news and photos of what you are up to. I hope you enjoy today's story!

Hello Hedgehogs,

I've had so many photos of you doing so many wonderful things, it's been very hard to choose just a few to put up here.

Well done  Arlo, Beau, Chloe, Elena, Hattie, Jack, Jonny and Seb  who completed the 'Knockout' maths challenge.

and a huge well done to Seb, who memorised the poem and sent me a video!

The diary writing you did was amazing! I enjoyed hearing what you'd been up to and I was very impressed with your work. Here they are...

Next, here are some of the spring work you did:

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday Hedgehogs!

The sun has been shining and the birds singing. A lot of the ideas today are based outside, to make the most of this sun. You can do them in your garden or out on a walk.

Well done to everyone that has had a go at some of the challenges. I've been enjoying all of your emails and seeing the wonderful and interesting things you've been up to. On Monday I will share some of the photos you have sent me with the rest of the class.

My niece Isla and my nephew Joel had a go at the mini den making task and they asked if I would too - so I did. I had a lot of fun trying to make a den for my turtle. I think he would have preferred being in the sea, but I could not get to the sea at this time.

Have a good weekend Hedgehogs and Hedgehog Parents. I hope you enjoy doing some of these activities.

Hello Hedgehogs, it's Wednesday!

Good morning Hedgehogs!

Thank you for the work and photos you've been sending in. I really like seeing them. I particularly like seeing your smiling faces!

On Saturday I went for a ride on Komet and spotted some signs of spring to share with you! It was good to be out in the sunshine. Komet enjoyed seeing the lambs but he was a bit confused when they ran away from him.

Miss Taylor and her three children had a go at Rob Biddulph's challenges - I've enjoyed seeing the Gregosauruses and sausage dogs that some of you have been creating.

Today's (must-do) challenge:

In other news, Mr Small has been reading stories for you!

Welcome to the Hedgehog Hub

Welcome to the Hedgehog Hub!

Hello Hedgehog Class (and parents, of course).

It was strange suddenly saying 'goodbye' to you all on Tuesday. I don't know
when we'll next meet, so I thought we could keep in touch here. I will be posting ideas and activities a few times per week for you to do with your families.

One activity on each blog will be compulsory to make sure you all keep going with key skills. Parents, please take a photo of the children's work/ them doing the activity and let me know how they get on via email. I will feed back to you.

The address is: whaddonteachers@gmail.com

I will respond to any work you send to me (the compulsory and non-compulsory)with ideas for what to do next.

I will also share particularly amazing work with you all, via this blog.

Today's Must-Do Challenge is the 'knockout' maths game below. I look forward to seeing your photos of it!
Reception: lots of practice of adding up

Year 1: can you write down some number sentences to match the dice as you roll them? eg 3 + 4 = 7.

Here are today's other activities:

Goodbye!

Dear Hedgehog Parents, It feels very strange finally to be saying goodbye to you all. Whaddon has been my second home for the past ten years...
