Here's to Tuesday: 30th June

Good morning Hedgehogs.

Firstly, a very late HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Isobel who turned 6 on Saturday!

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Izzy,
Happy birthday tooooo yoooooouuuu!

Here is some Tuesday bear joy for you:

Then we have some handwriting:  bed
with a focus on the difference between 'b' and 'd'.
b is a robot arm 'down up and around' letter, d is a curly caterpillar 'round up and down' letter.
Spend some time getting these right!
Then make sure your b and d are tall while your e is small.
Finally, get them all to sit on the line!

A tip to remember which is which:
the 'b' begins with a long bat and then a ball.
the 'd' begins with a little round dog and then its tail.

After that, Chapter 18:

Y1 Blockbusters
(begin with the YR version as a warm up if you feel your child would benefit from this. Then try doubles to double 10)

Finally, a game that the children at school have been enjoying!

See you tomorrow Hedgehogs!

Next, it's Tuesday: 23rd June

Hello, and a very happy Tuesday to you.

What did you think about the penguin? At school, we thought that he might quite like it on a ship because he's surrounded by water and fish, and he could slide about the deck on his belly. We also wondered whether he might be able to help us by catching fish for dinner! The only concern we had was that it might be too hot for him when we get nearer to Kenya...

Today, we are starting with:

Handwriting: coat.
Challenge 1: form your letters correctly. If you can do that...
Challenge 2: make your 't' taller than the other letters. If you can do that...
Challenge 3: sit all of your letters on the line. If you can do that...
Challenge 4: make your 'coa' all the same size!

Then, Chapter 14:

After that, some phonics:

And finally, a pirate workout:

Have a good Tuesday,

Tuesday Greetings: 16th June

Good morning Hedgehogs and a very happy Tuesday to you.

We had a great time in Y1 and in YR yesterday writing the next part of the story!

Today we are:

Starting with handwriting again:
Y1 children please look closely at where the letters sit on/below the line and which are small and which are tall letters. The 't' should actually be taller than the 'i', unlike below!

As usual, please complete the story chapter and try to do the handwriting and phonics!

See you tomorrow,
